winter wonderland

hooray for snow! roman and i attempted to build a snowman this morning - no luck, snow was too powdery. was really pretty to look at, though!

funny roman story: just after lunch, roman was playing in the front room while i was cleaning up dishes. i heard him yell "mama, i'm stuck! help me!" it sounded muffled, so i was sure he was in the coat closet, where he sometimes hides. nope. not in the closet. i heard him say "help!" again, this time a little more stressed... and i turned around to see him lying on the floor with his entire upper body in his little red barn (built by uncle trav!) the roof hatch was open, and his body was hanging out the (smaller) end door. he could clearly see me through the roof hatch, he just couldn't get out. so first, i asked him what he was doing and he said he found a ladybug. (i looked later and couldn't find the ladybug.) i started to pull his body backwards out of the barn, but that didn't work - his shoulders were getting stuck. so i convinced him to stick his arms out like superman (flying position) and i twisted his body up onto his side and flopped/wiggled him out backwards. whew. made me tense up just looking at him squished in there like that... so thankful for the roof hatch so he could at least breathe. :) (here's a pic of roman by the barn door that he somehow managed to squeeze through!!?!?)
