roman worked very hard at this tree yesterday, for almost 30 minutes. he sat backwards on the bench (as in the picture below) and used his handy manny pliers (aka "cutters") to trim the tree. he collected all of the leaves in a bucket and then brought it into the house and told me that it needed water to grow. i convinced him to leave the bucket (and probably bugs, right?!?) outside for the rain during the night... whew. guessing we'll have lots of things like this that need to be brought in the house...oh boy...

i hope roman knows that he's not really
cutting the grass, even though he has a very cool lawnmower.
